Kauai Hawaii Adventure Elopement
Megan & John
Kauai, Hawaii, the island where Megan and John chose to elope, 4,448 miles from their home. They made sure to track the distance before leaving their ceremony site! It’s one of my favorite places on earth and I believe it ranks quite high for them now too 🙂 It was a rainy morning. We debated whether or not to proceed with the sunrise ceremony. With umbrellas in hand, we walked up to the cliffs where they planned for their I do’s on the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail. The sight was magnificent and way too exciting to hold off any longer! They become husband and wife just above the crashing waves with 360 views of shear beauty. I hope they make it back to this very spot on future anniversaries!
After their ceremony, we stopped for some acai bowls and breakfast pizza.. delish! From there, it was all about exploring the island! There is so much more to see beyond the stunning beaches! We did some hiking at the sleeping giant trail where we felt like we stepped into an enchanted forest! Next, they threw their hiking boots back on as we did some slip’n’slide back down the muddy trail. We followed a bunch of chickens around to some gorgeous waterfall overlooks. The island is full of roosters which are great for getting you up and out in the morning when on vacation. Maybe not so enjoyable to be a permanent neighbor to them!
.
We stopped at Shipwreck Beach where Megan was able to remember her mother. She expressed to me how much her mom had loved the ocean. I hope in those moments while she wrote her mother’s name in the sand, wearing her inherited wedding rings, that she could feel her presence on this special day of theirs. It shows how thoughtful of a person John is for making this suggestion. The two truly are the sweetest couple!
Our adventure continued as we headed up the west side of the island to check out Waimea Canyon. It’s easy to see why it’s called the grand canyon of the pacific! It’s a true wonder. Lastly, was our sunset hike on the Na Pali coast. The dramatic ridges, covered in lush greens and cascading waterfalls, clouds rolling in the valley, and views of the ocean some 4,000 feet below are some sights you will never forget. Completely breathtaking. We stayed and stared in awe until the light was gone. They wrapped up their epic wedding day with a steak dinner at The Beach House, the most wonderful restaurant with open walls overlooking the ocean. Wow, what an incredible day it was!
I love that they chose this experience for their elopement and am truly honored to have documented it for such a sweet couple and their families. Congratulations Megan and John!
